THE LATE WEDDING

The play revolves around several couples and amorous relationships. Their stories, which may actually be a portrait of a single relationship unfolding before our eyes, taking us to many locations, over great distances, and through time. Yet, the feeling that we have never left remains.

The intention of this design was to find a single space that could “hold” all the others -physically and metaphorically-, and where we could expand on the many tensions suggested in the play:
the real x invented, architecture x theater, dream x memory, projected x inhabited. We decided to build the “new house”: a couple’s dream home, still unfinished, placed at the center of the theater. The audience’s journey begins outside and continues inside the house.

With its intrinsic theatrical qualities, this production was also a celebration of live performance in a time of streaming and zoom.
