	The electric new play weaves together dance, narrative, and song to reveal the power of reclaiming language, culture, and one’s own identity. This world-premiere production traces Ayodele’s life from her roots in The Bronx and Puerto Rico, while celebrating the extraordinary and often-overlooked women tap dancers who paved the way.

	B: I was at the end of a particularly good year for me when A, my mentor and former teacher, called me up. It was during a thunderstorm. 
—Hey A!
A: I have to… I think I’m gonna kill her.
B: … Kill who? (no answer) A? Who are you killing?
A: Carmelita Tropicana.(A loud crack of THUNDER.)

Thus begins Give Me Carmelita Tropicana! — part love letter to an iconic performance artist, part intergenerational debate about the legacy of “downtown” New York, part theatrical interrogation of the uses/abuses of nostalgia, real estate, representation, and the avant-garde, 100% fantastical journey in which Branden Jacobs-Jenkins attempts to buy Carmelita Tropicana from her creator…but at what cost?

Sisters&#38;nbsp;tells the story of the 90-year relationship between Matilda and her sister Greta—the former, a human, and the latter, an AI program created by Matilda’s father to keep her company after her mom died.&#38;nbsp;In my research, I was interested in images of machine interiors—its circuits and components—and was struck by the concept of a "motherboard." This idea of a core hub within a larger system made me think about the ways in which we keep, or try to keep, our most vital memories.&#38;nbsp;Matilda's room, once her father's workspace, is at the center of an all-encompassing structure in this design. It is Greta's gateway to her sister's world, and where the memories of their relationship were made.&#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; 
 &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp;


“The set, music, lighting and special effects that scenic designer Tatiana Kahvegian, lighting designer Jennifer Fok and sound/media designer Alek Deva supply make Sisters a visual and auditory wonder. [...] Theater is spatial, and this production uses the viewer's sense of scale and distance. The set expands and contracts as lighting illuminates or darkens its extent. As we watch in a large, shared space, the play shrinks to the dot of a single woman and swoops outward to the vastness of a huge screen on what feels like a limitless back wall. The text's consideration of infinity is realized in space — the play becomes a visceral experience.”

PARADE is a kinetic installation that was part of STREET,&#38;nbsp;the 2022 edition of the The Bentway’s summer events.

“A motorised conveyor-belt overhead becomes an artery, soaring and looping around the bents above, carrying objects that march through the space like sorcerer’s apprentices.&#38;nbsp;Everyday signage and objects we might encounter on our morning commute such as stop signs, traffic cones, and bike racks are composed and deployed in a playful and subversive treatment of order and chaos. (...)
PARADE deconstructs the street, and marshals these iconic elements in a celebratory procession, transforming a mundane urban scene into street theatre. Reflecting on the continuous movement of the Gardiner Expressway above, and the bustle of the Bentway below, the viewer becomes a still point amidst the traffic of everyday life.”

HOLD THIS is a work in progress in collaboration with Camilla Dely, with participation of&#38;nbsp;dancer/choreographer Grace Tong.The piece is a short film told in still images, and explores the nature of devotion in artistic practice and the representation within and of the female body.

	Video created for the UNFPA campaign “INVEST IN WOMEN AND GIRLS IN HUMANITARIAN CRISES”.&#38;nbsp;

The text provided by the UNFPA team was the starting point for the design, which made use of the combination of paper cards, handwriting, and drawing as a storytelling device.
